Day 54: Dioses de Egipto

My host family took me to the CinePlanet on the Primavera to watch Dioses de Egipto. Before the movie, we ate supper.  I tried Bembos for the first time! It was so delicious!

And the movie started at 10:50 p.m. It was pretty late so I almost fell asleep during the movie. The movie was action and a little bit of fantasy? or adventure? Anyway, It wasn't my family's favorite but we still enjoyed the movie! Thank you my family!

Day 53: It's Hot!!!

Today I wasted my Sunday staying home all day long because it was too hot. It was almost 30℃ and there was no air conditioning. I was trying to do homework but I couldn't concentrate at all. So I just stayed in my bed watching YouTube. Although it was kind of boring day I could take a break from busy weekdays so I will stop complaining now. Next weekend I'm going to Cuzco so I hope weather gets nicer by then.

Day 52: Ahnika's Birthday

Happy birthday Ahnika! It was her 19th birthday. I still can't believe she is still 19. She is so mature and intelligent. I love her  so much!

My friends and I celebrated her birthday at Play Land Park. It is located near Jockey Plaza. One ride is from 8 soles to 10 soles. I tried 2 rides and both of them were fun!

Later we went to the bar, Mute in Surco but we didn't like it so we went to Miraflores. The taxi driver was super nice. He let us all ride in one car. It was crazy but so much fun!

In Miraflores, we got drinks and went to a club. The club was super crowded and it was fun! I hope everybody had as much fun as I did!

Day 51: TGIF

It's Friday! But I woke up at 6 am to surf with Joel. Today's class was the best! Our group was just three students including me and one instructor. My instructor was very nice too! (Even though he didn't let me take a break on the board lol I had to keep puddling... As always...) I hope to get the same instructor or the one I took with in the dirt class. Today something good happed to me! Students talked to me! They were super nice even though I crashed into one of them twice. I'm pretty sure we will meet again on Wednesday so I will try to talk with them more next! One more step until I make friends!

After the class, we had ice cream like last time and went to the restaurant Wasabi. It was a japanese sushi restaurant. In Peru, maki (rolls) is more popular. There were so many varieties at the restaurant. This restaurant had the system of all you can eat so you can choose whatever you want. It was a little expensive but it worth it! After eating, we went home. Luckily, we could catch a bus immediately.

At night I went to the dance class at Maulicio's house. Today Andrea's parents joined us. Today I danced a lot better! I am so happy that I'm improving.

After the class, we went to a restaurant to eat pollo a la brasa. It tasted a lot better after exercising!

It was a nice Peruvian Friday!

Day 50: After 50 Days...

So it's the 50th day in Peru. I'm having a lot of fun here, and actually I'm thinking to extend my visa so I can stay here longer. I really want to go back to Mancora because I liked the beach and its beautiful view. The ocean, sun, moon, and stars were so beautiful! It is a small town but busy with tourists from all over the world. Also I want to continue practicing surfing. I have done surfing in Lima but Mancora is a lot better. Mancora is my most favorite town so far. I hope I can make this happen. Although I like Peru, there are a few things that I don't like about Peru.

1. Bathroom is not clean and sometimes there is no bath tissues.
2. Need to worry about drinking water and food if they are clean
3. Taking a taxi is sometimes dangerous
4. Always need to watch my purse
5. Dusty and sandy. I sometimes don't even want to breathe.
6. Too much traffic
7. The noise. My neighbor is noisy even at 5 am.
8. Hot but no air conditioning
9. I don't know why but I always have a stomachache lol
10. Every place is small compared to the U.S. including house and school.

Although these doesn't make me happy, there are some good sides too!

1. People are generally kind
2. Delicious and healthy food
3. There are many beaches
4. Life style is beautiful. Wake up early, eat well and sleep well
5. There are so many things to do. Peru never sleeps
6. Everything is cheap except toiletries and cosmetics.
7. I like speaking Spanish
8. I can meet tourists from all over the world. We don't have many tourists in Nebraska
9. Weather! No rain no snow!
10. Culture. People are not rich here but they seem happy. Japanese people earn a lot more money but they are always stressed out. Here people are happy! (At least those who I know).

The more time goes, the more I love Peru! People are happy here and they make me happy! I really hope I can stay here longer.

I spent my 50th day in Peru shopping at Jocley Palaza and watching a play with my mom, Magaly and Ceaar. I went to shop after the class and four of us went to watch a Peruvian Japanese play. It was haralious even though I didn't understand most of the parts. Later we are at McDonald's. On the way home Cesar gave me homework, which was fixing my pronunciation of my "L" and "R". I will improve them by when I meet him next! Thank you for everything, my mom, Magaly, and Cesar!

Day 49: It's Wednesday

It's' Wednesday! That means it's my Peruvian day!

I went to surf with my friend, Joel! Today I didn't surf well because one girl crashed into me and the ropes that were connected  to our feet got crossed. It scared me a little bit. And the waves got bigger and it made me difficult to puddle. The class itself wasn't good today but I had a beautiful Wednesday morning. I need more practice! And I like it! It's good I have something I can be passionate about! Thank you Joel for everything you did today! You are such a nice person!

At night I went to my friend's house to take a dance class. Today I danced better but still it's hard to keep up because salsa is much faster than I was expecting! I hope I can dance well by when I leave Lima.

After the class I spent time with my host mom and her nephew, Maulicio and his family.i like Wednesday because I can meet a lot of people! I feel I'm really studying abroad! Maulicio, and his fiancé told me I could work with them after I graduate. I really want to make it happen because I love Peru so much! I will improve my Spaniah more so I can work in Peru!

Day 48: Lugar de La Memoria

I visited Lugar de la Memoria in Miraflores. This place was like a memorial of terrorism in 80s. In 80s people suffered from a lot of terrorism in Peru. 7 million people became a victim. Women were raped, kids were kidnapped, and many people were turned into a terrorist. It was interesting to learn about Peru's history.

After that, I went to Amorelados, which was an ice cream shop. I tried Lucuma and Cheesecake, and they were so delicious! For two flavors, it costs 12 soles. It is a little bit expensive but it worth it! I had a good today!

Day 47: Visiting a Family of Magaly

After the class, I went to see Magaly's family. Magaly is a best friend of my host mom. She has four kids, Joel, Pamela, Cesar, and Michaela. I like this family so much. They are so cariñoso (loving)! This family has recently got a new dog. Her name is Aisha and she is 4 years old. She is so friendly! Also, Joel invited me to go surfing on Wednesday and Friday and Magaly invited me to go to a theater again! I am already excited for this week! I appreciate all of the invitations they made. It was so nice meeting the family again, and I hope I can return something before I leave Lima!

Day 46: Good Bye to Paracas

It’s been a long day today. I woke up before 7 and went to do paddle boating and kayaking. Paddle boating was more hard than I thought and I didn’t like that I had to stand up whole the time, but I enjoyed kayaking again. After doing marine sports, my friends and I went to eat breakfast. This hotel serves very delicious breakfast. I liked everything I ate. Around afternoon, I went to ride a boat with my friends, and it was so much fun! We went to another island and saw a lot of birds there. Here animals are not afraid of human. I felt like they live together. It was very beautiful. At 3:00 p.m., we checked out the hotel and head back to Lima. This field trip was amazing. It was relaxing and fun at the same time. I wish I could have visited Ica and tried sand boarding, but I will wait until the chance comes. Well, we are back to Lima again! Time to study again!

Day 45: Paracas Day 2

I visited Las Islas Ballestas by boat today. The ocean was emerald green, and the island was made of rocks. On the way to the island, I saw a group of dolphins. I was so excited and happy! I couldn’t believe I could see dolphins in the ocean, not in the aquarium. And on the island, there were thousands of sea lions. It was a mating season so I saw many baby sea lions too. The island was beautiful with a lot of animals. I really enjoyed the tour.

After the tour, I explored the town in Paracas. I bought a baseball cap for 10 soles! I always wanted to buy a hat so I am so satisfied with my shopping! I went to eat at the restaurant too. I tried Ceviche de Mariscos (Seafood Salad with Lemon and Onions). It was the best ceviche ever! I really liked the food there, and of course, passion fruit juice was delicious too. I had nice lunch for 40 soles.

At night I went to swim in the pool. I liked swimming at night because the water temperature is nice, and I don’t have to worry about sun burning. Also, I can see the stars here! It was a beautiful night.

Later I went to eat at cafeteria. I got a plate of ice cream and chocolate cake. It was beautiful and delicious. In Japan, I eat a lot of desserts so this plate reminded me of Japan ( I don’t eat desserts at all in Peru).

I spent the night playing Monopoly Peru version with my friends. Although I went bankrupt I had so much fun! It was interesting to see the place I have visited or I am going to in the game. I had the beautiful last night in Paracas!

Day 44: Another Trip in Paracas

At 7:00 a.m. my class left Lima for Paracas. Yes! Another trip! It was 3 hours away by bus. We used Cruz de Sur again. Around 10 a.m. we arrived at the hotel in Paracas. This place is super gorgeous! Too gorgeous so I feel guilty for my parents.. There is a huge swimming pool, gym, supa, restaurant, cafeteria, and BEACH! There is a private beach! I can't actually swim there because there is an animal that stings people, but I did kayaking and it was so fun. I'm enjoyinng the Sunset by the beach with my friend. I'm going to an island tomorrow, and I can't wait for it!
